HURRICANE HARVEY

Hurricane Harvey was the costliest tropical cyclone on record, inflicting approximately $125 billion (USD) in damage, primarily from widespread flooding in the Houston, Texas metropolitan area. In a four-day period, many areas received more than 40 inches of rain as the system slowly meandered over eastern Texas and adjacent waters, causing catastrophic flooding. With peak accumulations of 60.58 inches, Harvey was the wettest tropical cyclone on record in the United States. The resulting floods inundated hundreds of thousands of homes, displaced more than 30,000 people, and prompted more than 17,000 rescues. Total damage from the hurricane is estimated at $125 billion, making it the costliest natural disaster ever in the United States. Throughout Texas, more than 300,000 people were left without electricity and billions of dollars of property damage was sustained. The Texas Department of Public Safety stated more than 185,000 homes were damaged and 9,000 destroyed from flood waters & wind damage.

Team 180 jumped in and setup their Disaster Relief operation across Victoria, Houston, Dickinson, & Katy, Texas. They received over 70,000 pounds of frozen meats, as well as thousands of pounds of food & supplies from organizations all over the US, and immediately began distributing foods, cleaning supplies, beds/mattress', appliances, and goods through numerous volunteer teams.

Team 180 was also able to set up a daily feeding program, feeding 5,000 displaced families breakfast, lunch, & dinner every day.

They are currently still in the Katy, Texas area working with Harvey victims providing aide and support to hundreds of families  still in need.
